Traveling pushes us out of our comfort zone - we may be faced with many fears; flying, safety, not understanding a language and getting lost. Isla Mujeres (Island of Women)
Isla Mujeres (Island of women) ~ one of THE most beautiful beaches. (white sand & turquoise waters). North Beach in Isla Mujeres was voted one of the top 10 beaches in the world. The entire island is only 5 miles long with no cars; only taxis, mopeds, bicycles and golf carts!
After a short ferry ride across the turquiose waters of the Caribbean, you will have arrived. Our week will be filled with adventure, fun, and a whole lot of relaxing. Daily fresh morning juices and yoga, whole foods, and beach massage ~ yes please! We will also spend a day touring the island by golf cart ~ visiting ancient ruins, churches, graveyards, a turtle sanctuary, and AMAZING views. A visit to the markets and a tortillaria are also on the agenda - if you've never tasted a real freshly made warm tortilla - well - "yum" is all I can say.
Valladolid
Valladolid is a historic Mayan City sometimes referred to as “The Sultan of the East,” and recently named "pueblo magico." Understandably so, as this bustling colonial town has some of the most beautiful ancient architecture in the Yucatan including a dozen churches and monasteries. A city full of contrasts as you walk through the bustling cobblestone streets along the rows of historic architecture, local Mayan women in traditional dress selling their wares on the street, and a cenote right in town - interesting blending with modern restaurants, shops, and even a French perfumeria. While in Valladolid, we will explore all of the above and a few surprises that you will not find on your average tours. Just one of the benefits of traveling with us!
Chichen Itza
Chichén Itzá is the largest of the archaeological cities of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization in theYucatan Peninsula. Considered one of the 7 wonders of the world, this ancient sacred site portrays the magical history of the Maya and Toltec culture. We will visit the ruins, swim in a cenote, and participate in a traditional Mayan cleansing ceremony.

FAQ:
Do I need a passport? Yes. Allow at least 6-8 weeks from time of application to receive.
Is it safe to travel in Mexico? I know some people are concerned with safety when considering travel in Mexico.
Mexico is a HUGE country, and just like anywhere else including the U.S., there are certain areas that are more dangerous than others. We will be traveling to SAFE areas geared mainly for tourists. Crime happens everywhere; anywhere you travel, you need to use common sense and take standard precautions, i.e. be aware of your surroundings, don't flash valuables around, and don't leave your wallet on the beach (seriously, people do that).
I have been making numerous trips to Mexico since 1992; including extensive traveling throughout Mexico and Central America for almost 1 year solo as a single woman and I never felt threatened. More recently I have been traveling to Mexico with friends, my teenage son, a female friend and her teen son, and most recently I traveled solo for one month through the Yucatan Peninsula and central Mexico. I've traveled to various places by local bus, taxis, collectivos, and never felt afraid or uncomfortable. I actually feel safer in Mexico then I do in many parts of the US. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me and I will be happy to discuss my experiences with you.
Do I have to eat vegetarian or vegan? For this retreat, In the house and when dining out, there will be options to order omnivore, vegetarian, and vegan.
WIll I have free time to be alone? Yes - although we have quite a busy schedule of relaxing ~ you will have time free time if you so choose. All activities are optional and with a retreat of this nature - we can customize an itinerary that will suit your needs.
What should I bring? When you reserve your space, we will send you a detailed information sheet of what to bring (and what not to bring) to ensure you are comfy and cozy and well prepared for the trip.
Can you help me with my flight? Yes - we can guide you to help find the best flights & prices from your location.
